
Pisang ( banana) Bolen is Indonesian baked bread pastry with crust layers similar to those of croissant, baked flour with butter or margarine layers, filled with cheese and banana. Other variants uses durian fillings. The cake demonstrate European pastry influences. These snack is also one of the famous one in Bandung Indonesia. The bakery Kartika Sari who introduce these Pisang Bolen to the people.
The name bolen itself is taken from the shape of this cake which almost resembles a cement mixer truck, namely the bolen truck. Just like nastar, this bolen banana is an innovation created from pastry recipes from the Netherlands, so that the taste is more acceptable to the Indonesian tongue and the variety of filling is easier to get.
There is also Pisang Molen are smaller in size than Pisang Bolen, even though they have almost the same name. Molen bananas are often sold by fried food sellers on the side of the road, while Bolen bananas are better known as souvenirs from Bandung. Molen only has banana filling, while bolen has more filling variants such as banana, chocolate, cheese, apple, durian and many more.
The texture and skin ingredients of these 2 foods are also different. Molen banana has a skin made from wheat flour, butter, sugar, vanilla and water. While bolen uses pastry dough ingredients, namely flour, sugar and water.

How to make the skin:
- Divide the A dough 30gr and , B dough 15gr (approx. 18 pieces) make balls.
- Take 1 A dough and roll with rolling pin
- Fill with B dough flatten it, then fold like an envelope.
- Roll out the dough lengthwise, fold single fold, repeat one more time.
- After all the dough has been folded, take 1 dough, roll again, give the chocolate filling and banana.
- Fold like an envelope, arrange into a pan that has been greased with margarine and line the baking paper.
- Do it until the dough runs out.
- Brush with spread ingredients and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles /or grated cheese. – Oven at 180 ° c until cooked
